It takes centuries of accumulated knowledge, years of development and hundreds of hours of work to create a Montblanc timepiece. The watchmakers at the Montblanc Manufactures in Villeret and Le Locle, put their talent and passion into each piece. The Montblanc Manufacture in Villeret, continues to cultivate Minerva's tradition and expertise. Within its walls, the Montblanc Centre for Development and Excellence contributes to the history of Swiss Haute Horlogerie with major innovations.

Montblanc timepieces perpetuate the heritage of the Minerva factory, which was founded more than 160 years ago.
1858

Charles-Ivan Robert founds his watchmaking workshop in Villeret.

Paper-maker Claus-Johannes Voss, banker Alfred Nehemias, both from Hamburg, and Berlin engineer August Eberstein join forces to create a line of writing instruments with a leak-proof system.

The Montblanc star becomes the company emblem and the "Montblanc" trademark is registered.

Production of a chronometer accurate to 1/100th of a second.

Inauguration of "Montblanc Montres S.A." in Le Locle, Switzerland.

Establishment of the Minerva Institute for Research in Fine Watchmaking in Villeret, Switzerland, continuing the 150-year tradition of Minerva, a Manufacture famous for its exceptional hand-crafted movements.
